Jane Platt

Jane was born in Yorkshire and was educated at The Queen’s School Chester, London University and The Royal Academy of Music. After graduating, she taught music at Claremont Fan Court School in Surrey, where she wrote and produced three musicals: “Through the Looking Glass” based on Lewis Carroll’s book, “Rats” after Robert Browning’s “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” and “Pilgrim” based on John Bunyan’s classic “ A Pilgrim’s Progress”.

In 1990, she moved to Bournemouth to teach music at Talbot Heath School, where she wrote and produced “Water Babies” based on Charles Kingsley’s “The Water Babies”. The show was performed again at the Bournemouth International Festival in 1993. Jane was Chairman of the British Kodály Academy for several years.

She now teaches violin, viola, musicianship, theory and sight singing from her home in Bournemouth where she lives with her piano and double bass playing husband, Patrick Lee.  She is also founder and Director of the New Forest Youth Choir, Director of the Wessex Starter and Middle Strings (feeder groups for the Wessex Youth Orchestra), Musical Director of the Ringwood Musical and Dramatic Society, and plays the double bass and violin in local orchestras, as well as chamber music as part of the Chatsworth and Parry Ensembles.
